ELTIS — English Language Training for Islamic Schools

English Language Training for Islamic Schools (ELTIS) aims to develop the English language expertise and teaching capabilities of 750 Madrasah Tsanawiyah (Islamic Junior secondary school) teachers from East Java, Madura and NTB, as well as strengthen the capacity of partner tertiary institutions to design, manage and deliver in-service English language and teacher training, and strengthen district support networks.

ELTIS is working with two Islamic universities (IAIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya and IAIN Mataram). These partner Islamic tertiary education institutions will in turn deliver English Language Upgrading (ELU) and Communicative English Language Teacher Training (CELTT) courses to Madrasah Tsanawiyah teachers, supported by appropriate resources.
